Origin
For over seven years, we searched for the right piece of land, our then little ones often in tow. We always knew we wanted to be near a water body ~ and then we found it. We fell in love with the beauty of the lake, the roar of the waterfalls, and the mystery of the ancient rocks. In 2016, we finally found our place. By 2018, we began planting trees. In 2021, we started building
Foundation
When we began, there was nothing — no electricity, no water supply, not a single brick, no soil fit for planting. No trees, no plants. Just a bare landscape, a bold dream, and a deep desire to bring it to life — little by little, with patience, love, and belief. We wanted to build in a way that felt true to the land — using natural materials and earthy architecture that blended in, not stood out. At the same time, we hoped for a space that was easy to care for, full of sunlight, and open to the wind. It made perfect sense to open our home & share it with people who have a similar longing to ours.
Philosophy
Sustainability has always been at the heart of our journey. We’ve chosen native varieties of trees, grow our vegetables organically, and are slowly nurturing a food forest. We try to keep things simple and kind — minimizing plastic use, segregating waste, using gentler, earth-friendly cleaning agents, and serving wholesome, plant-based food. Right from the start, it’s been about making thoughtful choices — gentle on the earth, respectful of nature, and in harmony with the land we are so blessed to call our own.

Alcohol, non-veg food, loud music and parties are not allowed.
• To maintain hygiene and consistency, we don’t allow outside cooked meals or kitchen access to guests.
• Men-only bookings are not accepted
• Only JIO network is available; other mobile providers do not work here.
• WiFi is available but can be unreliable and is not suitable for high-speed use or work. Consider bringing a JIO dongle as a backup.
• Last-minute requests or changes related to meals cannot be accommodated due to the remote location, with the nearest market 40 minutes away.
• The power supply is inconsistent, and we experience frequent power cuts. We don’t have a generator to avoid diesel pollution and noise, but we do have an inverter and solar backup.
• The area has a rich biodiversity, so you may spot insects or an occasional snake. Please be cautious when walking, especially in the early morning or evening.
• Always keep doors and mosquito nets shut.
• Local festivals and celebrations may at times result in music/ songs being played on loudspeakers without prior notice, which is beyond our control.
• Pets are welcome, but safety comes first, READ THIS BEFORE you bring your furry friend.

• Most of our energy is generated through solar power, with an inverter backup for essentials.
• All our plants, trees, and veggies are grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
• Rooms are equipped with air coolers—ideal for our dry climate and kinder to the planet than ACs.
• We avoid using generators to minimize noise and air pollution.
• During power cuts, a traditional copper wood-fired boiler provides warm water for bathing.
• We compost all wet waste and carry dry waste and plastics back to Mumbai for responsible recycling.
• We encourage guests to avoid packaged foods and help us reduce waste.
• Water and electricity are limited resources, so we use water saving fittings on taps & use electricity mindfully.
• Be particular to keep doors and mosquito nets shut at all times.

Instead of a resort-style villa with amenities that can sometimes feel standardized and impersonal, you will discover a serene, beautiful, and comfortable home filled with character and stories in every corner. We also have a small, rustic rock pool area where you can relax and rejuvenate.

There are no restaurants nearby, hence we provide simple, local, wholesome vegetarian (without dairy) meals on a SET MENU basis at a set time. Our food is rooted in traditional Maharashtrian recipes, prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You’ll taste the difference ~ the homely touch, the simplicity, the authentic flavours ~ with lighter use of oil and gentle spice levels that let the ingredients shine. We cook with what grows around us, keeping our meals authentic and rooted in the land. You won’t find the usual fare like Pizza, Pasta, Chinese, Continental, or generic multi-cuisine dishes here — just honest, regional food made with love and rooted in the local culture.

Some of the best activities to enjoy while you are at Gratitude include relaxing with a book, playing board games, listening to the birds, spotting butterflies, witnessing the sunrise or sunset, gazing at the stars and the moon (if you are lucky even a meteor shower), and spending quality time with your loved ones. It’s a great opportunity to consciously take a break from screens and simply be. Do check our other activities bu clicking seasonal spells and paid activities tab.

We had a long-held dream, to create a peaceful haven away from the bustle of the city. A space where we, as a family, could retreat to pause, reflect, and reconnect. A place we could shape with our own hands, nurture with care, and grow alongside ~ planting trees, creating green spaces, watching birds and butterflies, and enjoying the simple joy of harvesting fresh produce.
